Gabriel Friedlander is the founder of Wizer, an educational platform with a mission to make basic security awareness training free for everyone. Prior to founding Wizer, Friedlander was the co-founder of ObserveIT (acquired by ProofPoint), a company specializing in the detection and prevention of insider threats. He is also the co-author of the book, “Insider Threat Program: Your 90-Day Plan”. For more than a decade he has researched insider threat and trained numerous organizations on how to avoid and mitigate the risk it poses.

Chris Roberts, a virtual CISO, has founded or worked with a number of companies specializing in Darknet research, intelligence gathering, cryptography, deception technologies, security services and threat intelligence. He is an expert on counter threat intelligence and vulnerability research. He’s a frequent speaker at industry conferences and has been interviewed by CNN, The Washington Post, WIRED, Business Insider, USA Today, Forbes, Newsweek, BBC News and The Wall Street Journal.

Both Friedlander and Roberts agree that there is a fundamental disconnect between the perceived danger of online interactions and the actual impact cybercrime has on its victims. When trying to iterate the importance of online safety Friedlander remarks:

Treat the internet like a used-car salesman; it has an agenda. We have to think in an abstract way and we’re not good at that. Humans typically aren’t good at thinking from an abstract standpoint. And the digital world hasn’t got the touch and feel that we associate with feedback, that we associate with consequences.
